The Barn Owl Centre
The Trust aims to help stabilise the Barn Owl population in the wild and to attempt to increase numbers by helping to create additional habitat and nest sites, in the counties of Gloucestershire, Avon, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, parts of Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. Information here about barn owls, owls in general, owl species such as the little owl and the tawny owl, and the law covering the protection of captive and wild owls.

Brownsea Island
The National Trust property of Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour, Dorset, has has Little Egrets breeding since 1996. This website has full information for the visitor on all aspects of the island.

Cam Valley Wildlife Group
The Cam Valley Wildlife Group is an independent wildlife conservation group covering the area centred on the towns of Midsomer Norton and Radstock, which are about 20 km south of Bristol. To the south and west are the Mendip Hills, to the north west is the Chew Valley, and to the north-east the City of Bath and the Cotswold Hills.

Cotswold Water Park
A superb site that gives details of this Gloucestershire/ Wiltshire complex which forms the largest water park in Britain with 132 lakes covering 30 square miles (bigger than the Norfolk Broads!). Included are downloadable maps (you'll need them if you're a new visitor), details of events and activities, and wildlife and conservation in the area.

CVL BIrding (Chew Valley Lake)
Chew Valley Lake, ten miles south of Bristol, is the largest reservoir in south-west England.  Rich Andrew's website contains regularly updated news and information on its birds and wildlife.

Dawlish Warren Website
Dedicated to the wildlife of Dawlish Warren recording area, based around the Teignbridge District Council NNR and Devon Wildlife Trust reserve, situated at the mouth of the River Exe in South Devon.
Here you can find information about the recording area and the species that can be found on the Warren.
You can view daily updates of the latest sightings for birds and other wildlife, together with

Promoting British woodland, wildlife & countryside near Honiton, Devon, this site contains an extensive search facility, and details of a number of local sites.

Portland Bird Observatory and Field Centre
A comprehensive and up to date site looking at the Observatory and its' work, including latest sightings from the Isle of Portland and Ferrybridge.

Severnside Birds
Paul Bowerman's site about the coastal strip extending along the east shore of the River Severn from Chittening Warth to the old Severn Bridge at Aust Cliff (bordered by the A403 road). Although it is not the most scenic stretch of "coast", the area is very important for migrating and wintering birds. It is the premier site in the old County of Avon for observing storm-blown sea birds. The habitat consists of coastal scrub, salt marsh and mudflats in the south, surrounded by an industrial complex. The mid point is the village of Severn Beach and the Second Severn Crossing.


Somerset Levels and Moors Wetland
At the heart of Somerset, lies a beautiful area called the "Levels and Moors", which has international status as one of the most important wetlands of its type in the world. Most of the area is no higher above sea level than 25 feet. This website explains the work going on the preserve this wetland that includes West Sedgemoor and Catcott.
