The web site of the Nottinghamshire Biodiversity Action Group. This is a partnership of voluntary groups, government agencies, local authorities, businesses and others who have come together to produce and implement Action for Wildlife, the Nottinghamshire Local Biodiversity Action Plan. This site now gives access to the Nottinghamshire LBAP habitat and species action plans for birds like Nightjar and Barn Owl. Barn Owl Conservation Trust The Trust aims to help stabilise the Barn Owl population in the wild and to attempt to increase numbers by helping to create additional habitat and nest sites, in the counties of Gloucestershire, Avon, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, parts of Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. Information here about barn owls, owls in general, owl species such as the little owl and the tawny owl, and the law covering the protection of captive and wild owls. Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough Wildlife Trust Brief details of the Trust from the Wildlife Trusts website, including an events diary, but no information on their reserves (yet). Berksbirds Berksbirds.co.uk is an independent venture to provide a free resource about birding in Berkshire, UK. It is run by local birder, Marek Walford. Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust Details of the BBOWT but including details of only 3 of their 80+ reserves. Birding in Nottingham and Beyond Phil Bailey's site contains information about various aspects of bird watching collected from personal experience since 1985. It includes observations from his garden (in Nottingham) and local patch (Bestwood Country Park, Nottingham) as well as details of other sites in or near Nottingham and other parts of the UK. This will include sightings both of common and rare species. The site was created in June 2002 and will gradually increase in size as more entries are added. Cotswold Water Park A superb site that gives details of this Gloucestershire/ Wiltshire complex which forms the largest water park in Britain with 132 lakes covering 30 square miles (bigger than the Norfolk Broads!). Included are downloadable maps (you'll need them if you're a new visitor), details of events and activities, and wildlife and conservation in the area. Dean Birders This project was the result of two keen birdwatchers getting together and wanting to share their hobby with those that have difficulty getting out and about. We want to set up feeder stations and nesting boxes in the gardens of those people that are either elderly or have a disability and are limited to the house. Derby Natural History Society Founded over 100 years ago this Society is as active as ever, having a varied programme of lectures, activities and outdoor expeditions catering for all people in the Derby area of England who are interested in wildlife and geology. Sadly, not much mention of birds on the website. Derbyshire Biological Records Centre DBRC is part of Derby Museum & Art Gallery in Derbyshire. They hold half a million computerised records of animals and plants from across Derby and the county of Derbyshire, and have existed since the early 1970s, but hold specimens and data going back over 150 years. This site presents a variety of information on the county’s wildlife. Derbyshire Ornithological Society The Society was formed in 1954 and is still going strong. This website includes top site details (eg. Carsington Water and Ogston Reservoir) and sightings. Also articles on such things as Waxwings in Derbyshire. Derbyshire Wildlife Trust Brief details of the Trust from the Wildlife Trusts website. Wolfson Ornithological Society Wolfson Ornithological Society was founded on the 9th of October 1996 by three fanatic birdwatchers at Wolfson College, Oxford. This website carries news of the Society and its' events, etc. Wood Lane Nature Reserve, Shropshire Wood Lane, is the Tudor Griffiths Group sand and gravel extraction site near Ellesmere, Shropshire. The Tudor Griffiths Group has earmarked a restored area of the quarry as a nature reserve and this has been established jointly with the Shropshire Wildlife Trust as a Wildlife Trust nature reserve. The site has been long known to bird watchers because of the wetland area, which encourages a range of waders, and this website includes details from the sightings book, details of events and a history of the site. Woolston Eyes Details of Woolston Eyes Bird Reserve in Cheshire, and the conservation group that looks after it, including latest news. Worcestershire Biodiversity Partnership The Worcestershire Biodiversity Partnership is a wide alliance of organisations formed to oversee the production and implementation of the Worcestershire Biodiversity Action Plan.
